He was quickly worn-out, however, and was about to be killed by Nappa before Goku arrived. After defeating Nappa, Goku warned Gohan and Kuririn to leave, as they would only be burdens in the fight against Nappa. They leave, but Gohan quickly rushes back as he began to worry for his father. Going back, he finds his father nearly defeated and begins to try to defeat Vegeta, who is in his ape form. Yajirobe cuts off Vegeta's tail, reverting him back to his normal state. After more attempts to defeat Vegeta, including the Genki-Dama, Earth's fighters are exhausted and cannot continue the fight. Remembering that Gohan is half-saiyan though, tells Gohan to look up at the artificial moon Vegeta created. Gohan transforms into a great ape, greatly scaring Vegeta. Vegeta manages to cut Gohan's tail off, but Vegeta is crushed by Gohan falling mid-transformation. Vegeta then escapes into his space-pod and leaves Earth. Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma traveled to Namek in search of the Dragon Balls, so that they may revive their fallen friends killed in the battle against the Saiyans. But soon after arriving, they were attacked by two soldiers who destroyed their ship.
